A wheel hub is a component that ensures the connection between the rotating wheel and the stationary wheel suspension. It is either pushed onto a shaft or axle or mounted on an appropriate carrier. Depending on the vehicle manufacturer, the wheel hub is available as a compact bearing unit, which in addition to the actual wheel bearing also contains the ABS sensor and can only be replaced as a whole, or as individual components. The advantage of compact bearings is their comparatively simple replacement, but the entire unit must be replaced as soon as a defect occurs in one of the components. In addition to the wheel, the brakes are also mounted on the wheel hub.
